Our
Work

What’s in a name? Sometimes, everything a brand stands for.

With MONARX, we named more than a product—we crowned a new standard or care in peripheral nerve stimulation. Purpose-built for the periphery, its patented EFC™ technology ripples uninterrupted from the source for reliable pain relief—true power in the smallest possible form.

CHALLENGE:

The peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) landscape was saturated—with few true differentiators and limited physician enthusiasm. For Bioventus, introducing a next-generation device to replace their existing implantable StimRouter meant facing a market with minimal demand for “new” and plenty of skepticism. Physicians working in ambulatory surgical centers weren’t eager to learn a new implantation technique or adopt another system without a clear, meaningful advantage.

INSIGHT:

While PNS continues to gain traction as a non-opioid, non-pharmacologic solution for chronic pain, the category suffers from reliability issues that erode physician trust and limit patient outcomes. The culprit? Radiofrequency (RF) energy. RF systems are highly sensitive to implant depth, body movement, and receiver orientation—making therapy delivery inconsistent and often unreliable. When stimulation cuts out, pain relief does too. To compensate, physicians have had to place leads closer to the nerve, increasing procedural complexity and patient risk. It was clear that the next breakthrough wouldn’t come from making RF better—it would come from making it obsolete.

Solution:

Enter a product we named MONARX—the smallest PNS device designed for continuous therapy and consistent relief. Built with patented Electric Field Conduction (EFC™) technology, MONARX replaces RF energy with a proprietary waveform that uses the body’s natural conductivity to deliver steady, stable stimulation—regardless of patient movement, implant depth, or orientation. With 48% more current at the nerve than the leading system, MONARX proves that size isn’t the measure of strength—performance is.

Results:

The name and visual identity cut through the clutter to celebrate the power of small. The ripple motif within the symbol illustrates the unique EFC waveform—subtle yet powerful— echoing the “butterfly effect” behind the brand’s philosophy: in PNS, one small change can change everything.
